Shen Yueyue Joins Deputies from Fujian Province in Group Deliberation
May 24, 2020Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), stressed women's role in making new contributions to COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development when she joined a group deliberation with the deputies from Southeast China's Fujian Province at the third session of the 13th NPC in Beijing, on May 22.
Shen said that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, significant achievement have been made in the cause of the Party and the development of the nation, and strategic outcomes have been achieved in epidemic prevention and control.
Noting that the Government Work Report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang puts the people first and increases people's confidence in moving forward, Shen said she is in full agreement with it.
Shen noted that by sticking to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding principle and focusing on the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the women's federations should better serve the overall interest of the country and provide better service to women. More efforts should be made to publicize women role models from all walks of life, especially women medical workers on the front line in the battle against the epidemic, and vividly tell the stories of China's fight against the epidemic and poverty.
She said that the women's federations should lead and unite women to give full play to their role in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development.
Shen also urged the women's federations to focus on impoverished women and children, facilitate poverty relief work, support more women to get jobs, and take meticulous and effective measures to care for women and children.
The women's federations should also attach importance to the building of family, family education and traditions, boost core socialist values, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of women and children, and arouse women's initiative, enthusiasm and creativity to the greatest extent, inspiring them to contribute to achieving the two centenary goals.
